Our alternate is end carpentry and we do quite so much of high finish custom doorways. This was the completion of our full mortice machine (nothing else like it for morticing full mortice lock packing containers 5* for sure).
We have two vast problems with this template:
1- as we tighten the clamps to the door, the tooth don't stay parallel. They in fact open up and push the template faraway from the door (and now not consistantly), giving us as so much as 1/16 hole now and then between the door and the template. This makes exact depth keep watch over very tough.
2- There is a little bit of wiggle and play in the bottom of the adjustable template. Where the router makes contact with the template on the backside of the mortice, there is more than 1/16" wiggle as a result of it only has contact on one facet. Again, for precision, that is unacceptable.
We used the template on three doors and at the second are sending it to a local laptop keep to look if there could be anything else "fixable" with this.
Like I said on the top, I love the concept that. No more nail/screw gaps to hold homemade templates to the door, and no need to elevate templates for each strike... Hopefully it is salvagable.
